In addition to the many countries of the world, including Brazil and the United States, all of which are separated by geographical boundaries, there is a nation of a different kind. Like St. Augustine’s City of God, this other nation, Animal Rights Nation, has no particular location and is not confined to a particular time. Shared values and commitments, not date and place of birth, are the qualifications of citizenship.
