The family is the basic building block of society, and the first social institution in which the child grows, the family environment is of particular importance in shaping children's behavior, in addition to the surrounding social environment affecting childhood, since violence is a prominent feature surrounding childhood, this study aims to shed light on the extent to which children are exposed to violence within the family, what are the images of this violence and its repercussions on childhood, and the extent to which this violence is related to some cultural and social variables. As the study sample consisted of (175) families in the city of Hilla (the center of Babil Governorate), the study found a high rate of violence against childhood due to the means and methods of socialization and the culture of society. Verbal violence is the most common type of violence against childhood, followed by physical, verbal and physical violence, neglect. With a decrease in the percentage of children whose personalities have been affected by violence. There is a significant relationship between the academic achievement of the father and mother, the economic level of the family, the number of family members, exposure to family problems and the degree of the child's exposure to violence.
