Lord Neaves, the Chair of this Anniversary meeting, addressed the members of the Society and emphasised the importance of the study of antiquarians to both historic and prehistoric research. He also stresses that subjects such as comparative philology and legal history can provide key insights for the study of the past. The Secretary then reported on the state of the Society's collections and noted that they could soon be moved into a larger premises, which would allow the Society to expand the national collection.    Meeting notes for 13 December, 1858 are appended.
