This article argues that the records of the Privy Council have been altered to suggest that the Duke of York attended meetings in Edinburgh in July 1684. Although no alibi proving that he was not in Edinburgh has been found, the author argues that there is indirect evidence of the Duke's absence in the Privy Council Records.
