Usheera (Vetiveria zizanioides Linn. Nash) possesses a great therapeutic value in the traditional Ayurvedic medicine and is widely distributed in India. Apart from the medicinal value, the culms are used for sweeping, scenting clothes and also as soil binders. In Ayurvedic literature, the plant has been mentioned from Veda Kala to Nighantu Kala.
