Lifelong preservation of tooth in a healthy state is the ultimate goal of dentistry. Premature loss of primary teeth is common due to caries, dental trauma or other causes. As the primary teeth are the best space maintainers, teeth with infected pulps should be retained until exfoliation, whenever possible.
