Ali Emiri's Ottoman History And Literature Periodicals

Periodicals are the documents which constitute resources for ourhistory. A kind of literary atmosphere forms around the magazines;feuilleton novel, story, poetry, critics and similar literary works cometogether with the reader via these magazines. Founder of the PublicLibrary, Ali Emirî published two literary periodicals named OttomanHistory and Literature and History and Literature which are thesuccessor to each other. Totally comprising of 36 issues, the first ispublished as 31 and the latter is published as 5 issues. During theirpublication years, the periodical constituted highly literary atmosphereand this atmosphere undertook an encoring mission in youth’s literaryworks.In this study, these periodicals are introduced and theircontributions to our literary and cultural life are mentioned.First of all Ali Emirî published Ottoman History and Literatureand History and Literature with the aim of being useful for his countryand nation. Later he aimed to illuminate the information/sources ofabout Ottoman history and literature and correct document mistakes.He also wanted to replay to the works that were published as anopposition for him through the magazine and, including Mehmet FuatKöprülü he criticized many other people and institutions.Ali Emiri introduces Divanu Lügati't-Türk to Turkish world. Hewho travelled a lot because of his occupation and thus he continuouslycollected new information and documents. As he enlarged Emirisometimes introduced this information to the readers. Millet Kütüphanesinin kurucusu olan Ali Emirî Efendi'nin de "Osmanlı Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası" ile "Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası" adında birbirinin devamı niteliğinde olan iki dergisi vardır. Dergilerden Osmanlı Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası 31, Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası 5 sayı olmak üzere toplam 36 sayı olarak yayınlanır. Yayınlandığı dönemde dergiler etrafında oluşan edebî atmosfer gençleri edebî faaliyetlerinde teşvik edici bir misyon üstlenmiştir.Bu çalışmada Ali Emirî Efendi'nin Osmanlı Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası ile Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası adlı dergileri kısaca tanıtılmış; bu dergilerin tarih, edebiyat ve kültür hayatımıza yaptığı katkılara yer verilmiştir.Ali Emirî Efendi, "Osmanlı Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası" ile "Tarih ve Edebiyat Mecmuası"nı öncelikle vatan ve milletine faydalı olmak gayesi ile çıkarır. Daha sonra Osmanlı tarih ve edebiyatına ışık tutacak bilgileri ortaya çıkarmayı ve bilgi-belge yanlışlıklarını düzeltmeyi hedefler. Yazar dergi vasıtasıyla kendi aleyhinde çıkan yazılara da cevap vermek istemiş, başta Mehmet Fuat Köprülü olmak üzere pek çok kişi ve kuruma yönelik tenkitlerde bulunmuştur.Divanu Lügati't-Türk'ü Türk dünyasına kazandıran Ali Emirî Efendi, görevi gereği çeşitli yerlere seyahatlerde bulunmuş ve buralarda sürekli bilgi ve belge toplamıştır. Bu bilgileri, zaman zaman dergi vasıtasıyla okuyucuya sunmuştur
