The Influences Of Orff Preschool Music Education Approach On The Improvement Of Social Skills Of Students

The aim of this research is to investigate the influences of Orffpreschool music education approach on the improvement of social skillsof students. 40 students which were selected randomly as control andexperiment groups from Canik Yavuz Selim Regional Primary BoardingSchool in the academic year of 2009-2010 made up the search group ofthis study. The evaluation of Social Skills (Between the Ages of 4-6) wasused to collect data which was prepared and improved by Avcıoğlu(2005). The sub-tests of the evaluation are “ The Skills ofCommunication Among People, The Skills of Anger Management andAdaption to The Changes, The Skills of Management of Coequals‟Pressure, The Skills of Oral Expressions, The Skills of Self Control, TheSkills of Creating a Target, Listenning Skills, The Skills of Finishing TheProject”. The evaluations are applied by the preschool teachers of 40students before and after the Orff Schulwerk Preschool MusicEducation Approach. After the pre-test process, elementary music,movement and dance education based on the Orff Schulwerk PreschoolMusic Education Approach was applied for 60 minutes, on eachMonday and Wednesdays for 10 weeks to the experiment group. Theelementary music movement and dance education based on the OrffSchulwerk Preschool Music Education Approach was not applied to thecontrol group, the continued their usual courses. After all musiclessons, post-tests were applied for the experiment and control group bytheir own teachers. Analizing the datum; it was observed that thechildren which were given the Orff Schulwerk preschool musiceducation approach had improved their “The Skills of CommunicationAmong People, The Skills of Anger Management and Adaption to TheChanges, The Skills of Oral Expressions, Creating a Target, The Skills ofFinishing The Project” comparing to the children that didn‟t take theOrff Schulwerk preschool music education approach. Suggestions weregiven according to the results. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Orff yaklaşımı ile yapılan okul öncesimüzik eğitiminin öğrencilerin sosyal becerilerinin gelişimine etkilerininincelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2009-2010 eğitimöğretimyılında Samsun ili, Canik Yavuz Selim Yatılı İlköğretim BölgeOkulu, okul öncesi 6 yaş grubu öğrencileri arasında deney ve kontrolgrupları için rasgele seçilen 40 kişi oluşturmuştur. AraştırmadaAvcıoğlu (2005) tarafından geliştirilen „Sosyal Becerileri DeğerlendirmeÖlçeği (4-6 yaş)‟ın “Kişiler Arası İletişim Becerileri, Akran Baskısı İleBaşa Çıkma Becerileri, Sözel Açıklama Becerileri, Kendini Kontrol EtmeBecerileri, Hedef Belirleme Becerileri, Dinleme Becerileri, GörevleriTamamlama Becerileri, Sonuçları Kabul Etme Becerileri” başlıklarıaltındaki dokuz alt ölçeği alınarak, 40 öğrencinin her biri için müzikeğitimi öncesi ve sonrasında çocukların okul öncesi öğretmenleritarafından doldurulmuştur. Uygulanan ön test aşamasından sonradeney grubu öğrencileri ile 10 hafta boyunca; Pazartesi ve Çarşambagünleri 60‟ar dakika, Orff Schulwerk yaklaşımı ile okul öncesi müzik,hareket ve dans eğitimi verilmiştir. Kontrol grubunu oluşturanöğrencilere müzik eğitimi verilmemiş, bu öğrenciler okuldaki geneleğitimlerine devam etmişlerdir. Tüm çalışmaların sonunda, deney vekontrol grupları için son testler uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerinişlenmesi sonucunda; Orff Schulwerk yaklaşımı ile verilen okul öncesimüzik eğitiminin, bu eğitimin verilmediği okul öncesi 6 yaş grubuçocuklara göre “Kişiler Arası İletişim, Kızgınlık Davranışlarını KontrolEtme ve Değişikliklere Uyum Sağlama, Sözel Açıklama, AmaçOluşturma, Görevleri Tamamlama Becerileri” sosyal becerilerinin dahafazla geliştikleri saptanmış ve elde edilen sonuçlara dayanarak çeşitliönerilerde bulunulmuştur
