Erdem Bayazıt’s Poem World

In this article on Erdem Bayazıt who is a prominent poet of recent era in Turkish poetry, and his poetry, its development and sources influenced him, people, events, his understanding of art, committing themes, his poetic language and his imagination are reviewed. To comprehend the internal dynamics of poet's modern life-style questioning and ideal elucidating poetry, to determine the reflections of socio-cultural life and to examine the technical aspects of this poetryconstitute main objectives of this article.By mentioning poet's intellectual biography in the main lines, hispoetry and the evaluations made on the poetics will contribute to abetter understanding of Erdem Bayazıt poetry.Bayazıt, criticizing the estranged society from the traditional lifestylein his poems, thinks such a civilization is artificial and corruptsmankind. His works, in which rootlessness of a life that deprived of thespiritual basis and its aloofness from redounding consciousness areexpressed, uses plain but dynamic poetry language. It is observed thatsocial problems hold a central spot, following with universal themessuch as death and love, in his poems of the poet, dealing with not onlythe country geography but also the whole world on the axis of humansusceptibility. All he did was to depend on traditional culture, hisreference point, while he was handling all of these issues. It’s obviousthat the aspect affecting imagery world and the way of interpretationprofoundly, force Bayazıt to perform a political stance in his works fromtime to time. That such particular repertoire forming the artist’s aspectsbriefly mentioned in modern Turkish poetry will be addressed. Yakın dönem şiirimizin önemli temsilcilerinden olan Erdem Bayazıt’ın şiirine ışık tutan makalede Bayazıt’ın şiirinin oluşumu, etkilendiği kaynaklar, kişiler, olaylar, sanat anlayışı, işlediği temalar, şiir dili ve muhayyilesi ele alınır. Tüm bu meseleleri işlerken yaslandığı geleneksel kültür onun referans noktasıdır. İmgelem dünyasını ve hadiseleri yorumlama biçimini derinden etkileyen bu bakış açısının Bayazıt’ı, eserlerinde zaman zaman politik bir duruş sergilemeye sevk ettiği de gözlerden kaçmaz. Bu kısımda kısaca değinilen cepheleriyle sanatkarın modern Türk şiiri içinde teşkil ettiği o ayrı delta, makalede ele alınacaktır
