Objective of the paper is to explore Koichi Yamamoto’s approach to printmaking, how his printmaking practices evolved, which methods he makes use of, and his interdisciplinary work. Importance of the paper is that it aims to explore the work by a Japanese-born contemporary printmaker by focusing on the particular period of his career, it provides a source to printmaking literature, and it will become a source material for future studies. It hasn’t been found any academic material such as articles or dissertations concerning the work by the artist in question. The paper, therefore, was limited theoretically with exhibition catalogues, the artist’s personal website, news on exhibitions and workshops as well as resources shared by the artist himself that were received via e-mail. Literature review, exhibition observing, artwork analysis and interview done electronically were used as methods in the paper. As a result, the findings on Koichi Yamamoto’s contemporary productions in printmaking, his technical mastery, and how he combined traditional and contemporary methods were presented. It was stressed how the artist blended all the information he got from various places of the world in his work. Keywords: Koichi Yamamoto, printmaking, interdisciplinary, contemporary printmaking
