Bostrychia calliptera (Montagne) Montagne, collected from the mangroves of Sontecomapan Lagoon (Veracruz, Mexico), is a new record for the central Gulf of Mexico. Bostrychia calliptera differs from its closest ally, Bostrychia pinnata J. Tanaka et Chihara, in the presente of axial cortication and interna1 hyphae in the former and their absence in the latter. This record extends the known distribution of B. calliptera from Central America (Panama) to the Gulf of Mexico.
