When used as predicates, prepositions generally take two subordinate se- mantic members, so-called actants. Prepositions that are one-place predi- cates occur, for instance s and okolo with the meaning ‘approximately'.Somewhat more common are prepositions used with three actants. One type is represented by the preposition v in adverbials of measure, for example On stojal v dvux šagax ot menja ‘He was standing two steps away from me'. Another type is found in the sentence Vosstanie načalos' k jugu ot Kieva ‘The uproar began south of Kiev'.Possible cases with four actants are discussed, but rejected
