On the basis of experimental resultsthe degradation model of the optical properties of thermal control coatings due to space environment interaction are proposed. The optical properties of thermal control coatings prepared by complex refractive index materials are analyzed by using the concept of graded indexand the expressions of the changed optical properties of the coatings are given. Applications of the degradation model are also discussed.
