Restriction of geometrical frustration and magnetic ordering in the inverse-spinel LiNiVO4

The magnetic properties of inverse-spinel LiNiVO4 have been investigated. It is found that there is a strong spin-orbit coupling effect in the system via fitting the paramagnetic data at high-temperature portion. A short-range antiferromagnetic ordering shows at low temperature with Neel temperature 35 Kwhich results from the restriction of the geometrical frustration due to the random distribution of Li+/Ni2+ ions.
