Laser ablation mass spectroscopy (LAMS) has been used to study yttrium contained fullerenes. Yttrium contained fuller enes were prepared by arc burning of Y2O3/graphite composite rods. The LAMS exper imental results confirm the presence of YC82It was also shown that YC82 appears on the surface of the sample and that the yield of YC82 changes with the primitive weight ratio of Y2O3 to graphite in fabrication processing. In addition, the stability of YC82 in air was studied and the mechanism of YC82 formation was discussed.
