Hemicyanine-doped silica film was fabricated by the sol-gel technique. It was demonstrated for the first time that the self-alignment of hemicyanine molecules in the above film existed in the interfacial area.A χ2 value of 6.6pm/V was obtained for a 50nm thick film.
