The paper gives an overview of the scientific and pedagogical activity of Doctor of Science, Professor, Head of Department of Theoretical Mechanics at Moscow Bauman Higher Technical School in 1924-1944 Alexander Petrovich Kotelnikov. The basic details of his biography, as well as research and teaching at the Kazan University, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the Moscow Bauman Higher Technical School. Particular emphasis is placed on the developed them "screw reckoning." It opened its main content and communications with the fundamental ideas of N.I. Lobachevsky, the prospects for its use at the moment. When covering the scientific and methodological aspects of the work as the head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, established N.E.
