Isolated extra-hepatic retroperitoneal echinoccocal cysts are rare manifestations of Hydatid disease even in endemic areas. Imaging techniques like computerized tomography that show specific radiological signs of hydatid disease have made it easy and accurate to diagnose such rare cases. Author reports his experience with preoperative diagnosis and surgical treatment of isolated retroperitoneal hydatid cyst without hepatic involvement.
