The article deals with ‘disease’ metaphors and those related to ‘death’ and ‘health’. The metaphors were extracted from selected newspapers and magazine articles published between 2006 and 2013. The aim of the research was to determine which elements from the semantic eld are used to create metaphors occurring in political discourse in Poland and in Great Britain, what roles they play and whether these roles are identical in these two countries.
