The concept of static exception handling has previously been investigated in a general setting. In this paper, we shall investigate the introduction of static exception handling in the programming language Beta. The aim is to show that static exception handling is a valuable contribution to object-oriented programming. Furthermore, the paper illustrates the evolution of a programming language feature from the general design phase to a concrete proposal for inclusion into a full-fledged programming language
