The purpose of the study was to classify the excellence management models and awards, according to the types of organizations, the criteria for their application, and the countries in which those models and awards were applied. Some conclusions were that the awards for excellence in management that have been delivered in the five continents were based exclusively on the three main models: EFQM, Deming’s Model of Excellence, and Malcom Baldrige, which were created with the aim of continuous improvement according to diverse criteria and principles, and these models used different percentages of them and that these excellence models have been used together with a combination of criteria in a single context to make the implementation feasible. It is recommended to extend an investigation in detail due to that the classifications can be given not only in the principles that are used for obtaining an excellence award or in the countries that the models are used, but also with the information about the industries in which were used and considering the moment in which the application has been submitted.
