The core optical network is a multilayer and multivendor communication network whose operation requires hard and complex operating procedures. This paper describes an industrial management solution with a single integrated domain, end to end view, and homogenous functions across all vendors, to automate business processes related to the core optical network and services (Network creation, Circuit Provisioning, Surveillance, Maintenance). The solution allows the automatic network deployment by mean of on-line interfaces (provisioning and some tasks in network creation), optimal network resources allocation, quick and reliable failure diagnostics and identification of affected customers, quick service restoration with fair priorization, and improved Quality of Service monitoring (QoS). The solution also reduces the technicians' training periods. Additonally, less human intervention is required. Keywords: Industry automation, Automatic operation, Management systems, Communication networks, Real time computer system, Software tools
