Xarxa de comunicacions i infrastructures a Filipines (1875-1935)

Analitzant les polítiques d’infraestructures i comunicacions projectades durant la segona meitat de S XIX per l’administració espanyola a Filipines, establim una connexió amb l’expansió i el desenvolupament d’aquestes per part de l’administració nord-americana, durant el primer quart de S XX. L’objectiu de fons és descobrir l’existència d’una continuïtat en la majoria dels grans eixos de comunicacions i infraestructures entre ambdós administracions, no només en els projectes realitzats, sinó també en els equips tècnics que els van portar a terme. El Plan General de Ferrocarriles para la Isla de Luzón de 1875 és una anàlisi molt més àmplia sobre les condicions geogràfiques, poblacionals i econòmiques de l’illa de Luzón, i justifica el traçat proposat per al ferrocarril en tres línies principals, tot i que les pretensions del pla són més àmplies de cara a dotar a l’economia filipina d’una plataforma logística moderna per al seu temps.Through the analysis of infrastructure and communication policies undertaken by the Spanish administration during the second half of the nineteenth century in the Philippines, a connection can be made with their expansion and development by the North American administration during the first quarter of the twentieth century. The main objective is to discover the existence of continuity in the major roadway and infrastructure projects between both administrations, not only in the projects undertaken, but also in the technical teams which carried them out. The 1875 General Railroad Plan for the island of Luzon was a much wider analysis of the island’s population and its geographical and economic conditions and explains the railroad’s proposed layout in three main lines, even though the aims of the plan were wider with a view to providing the Philippine economy with a modern logistics platform for the time
