The number average molecular weights of a series of fractions of linear polyethylene have been determined using a high speed membrane osmometer. The M n values of the fractions, which were prepared by an elutinn technique, were used in GPC calibration and subsequent characterization of linear polyethylene SRM 1475. The molecular weights, measurement techniques, and the precision of the measurements are presented.
