V a. C. Aeschylus is an author especially concerned with geographical aspects, as it can be seen in his interest on the Nile River, mainly in The Suppliants, a work where the presence of Egypt is ubiquitous. In this article, we have analysed the importance of the Nile River, its landscape and its pecul ar behaviour in Aeschylus’ tragedies and in the Greek imaginary of the 5th century BC.
