Because of a Long‐Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule requirement to install a Cryptosporidium barrier on its 100‐year‐old, unfiltered regional supply, Tacoma Water (Wash.) opted to solve multiple water quality and supply risks by constructing a 90‐mgd conventional/168‐mgd direct filtration facility.
