Because excessive algae growth in water supply reservoirs can cause several problems, it's important to monitor algae concentrations and control elevated levels to reduce water quality problems. Many aquatic organisms, including algae, contribute to objectionable odors, block water treatment plant production filters, and may cause adverse health effects if present in elevated concentrations. This article offers information on algae control treatment such as recognizing treatment triggers, chemical treatment such as copper sulfate, pretreatment planning, and copper sulfate dosage adjustments.
