Des Moines Water Works developed a method for counting and assessing plankton that concentrates water samples by evaporation on well slides with glycerol. The method provides distinct advantages over other popularly applied procedures. Minimal hands‐on manipulation is required, and the entire processing time is 2‐3 hours.
