This study shows a novel and safe method for inducing β‐cell differentiation from expanded human pancreatic duct‐derived cells by using MAFA synthetic modified mRNA‐based reprogramming. The resulting cells showed glucose‐dependent insulin secretion both in vitro and after transplantation into diabetic animals, where they led to significant and prompt reduction of blood glucose levels.
