Autologous dermis stem cells (DSCs) are generating excitement and efforts in the field of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. This review covers the available literature; provides insight regarding niches, characteristics, and methods of isolating human DSCs; and analyzes current regenerative approaches using human DSCs to assist translation toward therapeutic use.
