RESUMOEste artigo elabora um estudo acerca da desfiguração em arte, desenvolvendo reflexões desde a caverna de Lascaux até a contemporaneidade. O texto tem como fio condutor a tentativa do ser humano compreender-se a partir da imagem de sua face. Elaboram-se questões sobre o retrato, a figura, seus contornos e os devidos contextos que relacionam a aparência, a identidade e a inteligibilidade da forma. The underlying theme of the text is the attempt of human beings in understanding themselves based on the image of their face. It formulates questions about the portrait, figure, contours and appropriate contexts linking the appearance, identity and the shape’s intelligibility.
