This article is part of a master's research that is being developed since 2012 in the Post - Graduate course in Education, in the field of History and Historiography of Education of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). Our main goal is to unveil part of the actions and practices of the student movement in the Triângulo Mineiro, specifically in the city of Ituiutaba, which unfolded under the authoritarian climate imposed by the military dictatorship in the 1960s. We also seek to reveal the student's ideology conveyed by the local media, with national outreach. We utilized as a primary source the analysis of 04 collections of newspapers of the city of Ituiutaba, which circulated in the 1960s. We also resorted to the oral history, by means of semi-structured interviews with some of the former leaders of the student movement in the relevant context. We believe that the importance of this study lies mainly in the originality of the subject, as the history of the student movement in the country during the dictatorship mainly discusses the major urban centers. This study showed that the implementation of the military dictatorship in the country reflected on politics and on Ituiutaba's society, where the students were turned away from the claims with political character. There by, we believe that the development of this study, its subsequent dissemination and discussion, can contribute to the history of the students in the country, as well as expand the possibilities of interpretation of the impacts generated by the military coup in the Brazilian society
