Open AccessA partir de mediados de la década de los setenta surgen en el seno de la historiografía anglosajona una serie de corrientes revisionistas del reinado de María Tudor que alteran significativamente las interpretaciones anteriores. La inclusión de postulados y datos inéditos generará en las últimas cuatro décadas una completa reformulación del mito de Bloody Mary que será objeto de una estimulante controversia entre los revisionistas y los continuadores de las líneas historiográficas precedentes. En los últimos años, además, también han visto la luz diversas monografías que coinciden en subrayar la trascendencia del reinado mariano, no sólo en cuanto al concepto femenino de monarquía o queenship sino también para el futuro devenir del reino inglés. La finalidad de este artículo es trazar una panorámica sistemática de las aportaciones realizadas por las diferentes corrientes historiográficas centradas en el reinado de María Tudor, desde los innovadores trabajos de Pogson y Loach a mediados de los años setenta hasta las monografías más recientes de Duffy, Edwards o Porter.
Abstract Since the mid-seventies a series of revisionists streams have emerged in the bottom of AngloSaxon historiography which altered the previous interpretations significantly. The inclusion of completely new data and assumptions will generate a complete reformulation of Bloody Mary’s myth which will be the aim of a stimulating controversy between the revisionists and the ones who preferred the preservation of the status quo. During the past few years, several monographs have come out and have also coincided in underlining the significance of Marian’s Reign, not only in respect to the feminine concept of monarchy or queenship, but also for the future of the English Kingdom. The aim of this article is to sketch the outline of a systematic outlook of the contributions made by different historiographical streams focused on the reign of Mary Tudor, from the innovative Works signed by Pogson and Loach in the mid-seventies till the most recent monographs by Duffy, Edwards or Porter.
