Open AccessEl estudio de la Matrícula de Mar permite una aproximación a la economía marítima de Campeche en las décadas finales del período colonial. Así sabemos que una parte considerable de la población se dedicaba a la pesca, a la construcción naval y al comercio marítimo, desarrollado fundamentalmente en el marco del seno mexicano. Del estudio de los cuatro recuentos efectuados por las autoridades se deduce además que todas estas actividades se incrementaron a lo largo del último tercio del siglo, en vísperas de la independencia de la región.
The study of the Matrícula de Mar provides an approach to the maritime economy of Campeche in the last decades of the colonial period. So, we know that a substantial part of the population worked at fishing, shipbuilding and maritime trade, especially carried out in the Gulf of México. The study of the four recounts the authorities orderer shows us that these activities increased all through the last thrird of the Century, in the eve of the independence of the región.
