Open Access¿El nacimiento de Atenea?, ¿es ése el tema del frontón oriental del Partenón, según los arqueólogos casi unánimemente afirman? La iconografía griega contemporánea del Partenón no confirma tal tesis; y ni siquiera el texto de Pausanias ni el llamado «Puteal de la Moncloa» son buenos testigos en esta disputa. El autor de este artículo sugiere la hipótesis de que el «triunfo de la diosa Atenea» o, aún mejor, el triunfo de Atenas constituirían una elección más acertada para el argumento del frontón oriental del Partenón.
Athena’s birth: is it the mythological theme of the East pediment of Parthenon, like the archaeologists near unanimously agree about? Greek contemporary iconography don’t reinforce that thesis. And neither Pausanias’text nor the so called «Puteal de la Moncloa» are very good testimonies in this trial. The author of this paper suggests the hypothesis that «triumph of Athena» or rather «triumph of Athens» would be a better election for the real argument of the East pediment of the Parthenon.
