Open AccessSe trata en este trábelo la descripción, contextualización y encuadre cronológico de una nueva manifestación de arte esquemático en la zona del Monte Hijedo (Cantabria), el ídolo que hemos denominado de Peñalaveja. Presenta características que lo sitúan en un punto intemiedio entre los ídolos del tipo Peñatu (Asturias) y los de Peña Lostroso, El Redular (Cantabria) y Portillo Viejo (Burgos). En relación con estos últimos parece descubrirse una cierta organización espacial. Todo ello dentro de una banda cronológica que iría desde el Calcolítico/Bronce Inicial al Bronce Medio.
We deal in tliis paper with the description, contextualization and chronological framing oí a new expression ofschematic art in the área of Mount Hijedo (Cantabria) the idol that we have named after Peñalaveja. It shows features that sitúate it in a halfway point between the idols of the kind Peñatu (Asturias) and those of Peña Lostroso, El Redular (Cantabria) and Portillo Viejo (Burgos). In connection with these last one everything seems to indícate some kind of spatial organization. All this within a chronological band that would extend from the Chalcolithic/lnitial Bronze Age to the Middie Bronze Age.
