AWWA has developed numerous resources to promote good practices in the area of water loss control. In 2011, the AWWA Water Loss Control Committee launched the Water Audit Data Initiative (WADI) to demonstrate implementation of these practices and to improve the understanding of water loss issues by providing reliable examples of water audit assessments to shed light on the existing state of water audits, audit data validity, and water loss performance in North America. The 2015 WADI marks the fifth year of the program and provides an opportunity for review. This study analyzes the most recent data collected through the program and provides insight into the water audit data validation process that is at the heart of the WADI and is integral to developing accurate water audit performance data. Many utilities are expected to find this information of value as they undertake their own water audit investigations and compare their results against the validated water audit data published as part of this initiative.
