Water is a finite resource that is essential to life itself. As populations continue to grow and as demand for this precious resource continues to increase, the way in which utilities and consumers manage, conserve, and measure water will become increasingly important. The ability of utilities to effectively manage the delivery and use of water ‐ defined as their resourcefulness ‐ will be increasingly important to national economic competitiveness. Through technology, utilities have the opportunity to be more resourceful and to reduce waste, revitalize infrastructure, and improve consumer service ‐ which will benefit the economy overall.
