With the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) scheduled to publish the proposed perchlorate regulation sometime this year, the likely prospect of a few regulatory precedents that would be significant for the drinking water community won't be far behind. Perchlorate has been a contaminant of concern for the drinking water community for more than a decade, and the USEPA listed perchlorate on the First, Second, and Third Contaminant Candidate Lists in 1998, 2005, and 2009, respectively.
