The AWWA Diversity and Member Inclusion Committee (DMIC) promotes both diversity and inclusion within the activities of AWWA, the sections, and, as much as possible, throughout the water industry. In his acceptance speech during the gavel‐passing ceremony at the 2012 Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE), AWWA President Charlie Anderson made a point of including diversity in his plan to advance a new business model for AWWA and the sections. The definitions of diversity and inclusion sound simple and straightforward, but the task of successfully implementing diversity and member inclusion is neither.
