The Environmental Protection Area of Grussaí has been planned within the region of the Porto do Açu, onsisting of the following lagoons: Iquipari, Salgada, Grussaí, and Taí. This study was conducted in the Lagoa do Taí, 5th district of São João da Barra, RJ, and aimed to evaluate its water quality through physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses from July to December 2012. The evaluation was performed on temporal and spatial scale. We evaluated the following parameters: DO, BOD, E. coli, turbidity, pH and total hosphorus. Of the six parameters evaluated against the limits established by CONAMA Resolution 357/05, only the total phosphorus averaged nonconforming.
