Biodiesel is a key component for the establishment of a sustainable energy matrix. In this work, the main biodiesel production technologies are discussed in detail, with emphasis to those that are under investigation in the Brazilian INCT of Energy and Environment. Some of the most recent achievements in this field are presented, along with what is expected to occur in the very near future.
