Sulfuric Acid (CAS No. 7664-93-9)

This paper shows the importance of sulfuric acid in different areas of the   industry. Sulfuric acid is one of the most important chemicals worldwide. Sulfuric acid has many applications, in the manufacture of dyestuff, explosives and lead-acid batteries for vehicles. Additionally, it is used in the petroleum refining industry and its derivatives, and in the synthesis of mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid. The major application is the production of fertilizers, including ammonium superphosphate (acid phopshate) and sulphate. DOI: 10.5935/1984-6835.20110024Este trabalho faz um breve resumo da importância do ácido sulfúrico em diferentes setores da química.  Este ácido é um dos produtos químicos mais fabricados e utilizados no mundo. Algumas das inúmeras aplicações do ácido sulfúrico referem-se às fabricações de corantes, explosivos e baterias de automóveis. Além disso, é empregado no refino de petróleo e de seus derivados e na síntese de ácidos minerais, como o ácido clorídrico. O maior consumo deste ácido é na fabricação de fertilizantes como o superfosfato (fosfato ácido) e sulfato de amônio. DOI: 10.5935/1984-6835.2011002
