In this article, I discuss the subject/language relations hip of texts written by students of the National Program for the Integration between Professional and Basic Education for young and adults (PROEJA), at the Federal Institute of Sergipe, Aracaju campus. I analyze linguistic phenomena and singularities of two texts selected from the students’ production. The analyzed data illustrate the language variety used by the students in their speech community, and identify the type of relationship established among them, the language used by them, and the language represented by the school
