Starting from the reading of the essay “Da razão antropofágica: diálogo e diferença na cultura brasileira” by Haroldo de Campos, this article analyses and interprets Haroldo de Campos positioning in view of the problems characteristic of the Brazilian culture exposed in his essay, and the validity of his thesis of another critic tradition in the Brazilian literary culture, in constrast to the critic point of view in “Formação da literatura brasileira” by Antonio Candido.
