FRAGMENTAÇÃO E GESTÃO DO TERRITÓRIO NO SUDOESTE POTIGUAR: PORTALEGRE-RN COMO FOMENTO DE PODER PARA GRUPOS LOCAIS

The work presented is a study of fragmentation and territory management, which has the analysis area southwest of Rio Grande do Norte, but specifically the city of Portalegre-RN, which was divided, especially in the middle of last century, giving rise to several new cities. The discussions presented in this paper have the territory, defined and limited by space and power relations embedded as the main category of analysis. The search exacerbated by maintaining and expanding the power of local groups, along with the weakness in the legislation, encouraged to accelerate the process of fragmentation of the territory. O trabalho se apresenta como um estudo sobre a fragmentação e gestão do território, tendo como recorte espaço-temporal o sudoeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte, mas especificamente o município de Portalegre-RN, o qual foi desmembrado, sobretudo em meados do século passado, dando origem a vários novos municípios. As discussões apresentadas neste trabalho têm o território, espaço definido e delimitado por e a partir das relações de poder, como principal categoria de análise. A busca exacerbada pela manutenção e ampliação do poder dos grupos locais, juntamente com a fragilidade na legislação vigente na época, contribuiu para acelerar o processo de fragmentação do território
