Manual de Comunicação LGBT: uma leitura crítica

In January of 2010, during the 5th ILGA-LAC Regional Conference in the city of Curitiba, it was released the “Manual de Comunicação LGBT” (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transvestites and transexuals), elaborated to professionals, students and professors of the Communication area. The manual has the aim to reduce the inappropriate use of terms that attack LGBT’s citizenship and dignity in Brazil. The present paper makes a critical review about the importance of communication in the social movement, especially in a moment when the media shows up LGBT themes in its program schedule, making itself a place of diversity, not unity. Em janeiro de 2010, por ocasião da realização da V Conferência Regional da ILGA-LAC, na cidade de Curitiba, foi lançado o Manual de Comunicação LGBT (lésbicas, gays, bissexuais, travestis e transexuais), voltado para profissionais, estudantes e professores da área de Comunicação. O manual tem o objetivo de reduzir o uso inadequado e preconceituoso de termos que afetam a cidadania e a dignidade de indivíduos LGBT no Brasil. O presente trabalho apresenta uma leitura crítica sobre a relevância da comunicação no movimento social, especialmente neste momento oportuno em que a mídia põe em evidência a temática LGBT em reality shows e na teledramaturgia, tornando-se lugar da diversidade, e não da unidade.
