Premenopozal ve postmenopozal kadınlarda lipit profili ve plazma aterojenik indeksinin karşılaştırılması

Objective: Menopause leads to changes in hormonal\udstatus, metabolism and lipid profile. The aim of the present\udstudy was to determine the influence of menopause\udand age on lipid profile in women.\udMethods: This study included 160 postmenopausal and\ud260 premenopausal healthy women. Serum lipid profile\udincluding total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein\udcholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol\ud(LDL-C), triglyceride (TG) and atherogenic index of plasma\ud(AIP) were estimated. Premenopausal women were\udfurther arranged in to two different age group of 22-45\udyears and above 45 years of age. The premenopausal\udand postmenopausal women were recruited and classified\udusing a comprehensive questionnaire.\udResults: There were statistically significant increases in\udTC, LDL-C, TG and AIP but there was no significant difference\udin HDL-C level between premenopausal and postmenopausal\udwomen. Only LDL-C level was significantly\udincreased in premenopausal women above 45 years of\udage compared with the premenopausal women between\ud22-45 years of age.\udConclusion: Menopause alters lipid profile. Atherogenic\udindex of plasma which is a marker of plasma atherogenicity\udmay be used to asses risk of developing atherosclerosis\udin postmenopausal women
