Controlling the traffic of vehicles is a very hard task to be\udrealized. It is represents a challenge in the search for solutions that can\udhelp control and vehicle traffic monitoring on roads. In this work we\udconsider the use of the differential method, proposed by Lucas and\udKanade, to estimate the optical flow, such as computational tool to\udtrack and classify vehicles from video frame by frame. The vehicles are\udfound in each frame are classified by its size: small, medium and large.\udThe results of this work can be applied, for example, in systems of\udcount of vehicles in highways. Another use for this work, which is a\udhigh value, would be to construct intelligent traffic lights, which\udcontrol the block and freedom of the pathway based on the flow of\udvehicles.\ud\u
