The research objective was to evaluate the effect of trash deposited in the soil in ratoon sugarcane cultivar RB 86 7515, planted in two different planting systems (furrow and windrow) and who received treatment with hydrogel polymer (0, 4, 8, and 12 grams per meter), in determining the maturity indexes (MI) of sugarcane. The cultivar was planted in December 2007 and the first cut in June 2009. The monitoring of MI ratoon cane was held over three consecutive months, ie March, April and May 2010. The experiment was located in Presidente Prudente SP, Campus II-UNOESTE, the soil being characterized as Acrisol Distroferric (EMBRAPA, 1999). The best values of MI were found in plots treated at planting furrow type, intermediate doses of hydrogel and with the addition of trash on the ground
